Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41; Revelation 5:11-14; John 21:1-19 or 21: 1-14. In the first reading, Peter and the Apostles are reprimanded for teaching in Jesus’ name, but they do not stop for they are obedient only to God’s authority. John’s vision in the reading from Revelation is of all creation giving glory to the slain Lamb. In the Gospel, Jesus appears to the disciples after his resurrection.

Domenica 3A Di Pasqua

From Fr. Gael:

Peter is on showcase this week. The disciples have returned to Galilee. Peter decides to go fishing and is accompanied by other disciples. The risen Jesus shows up on the shore of the sea but is not recognized by them. He calls them “children” and asks if they have caught anything. They answer no. He directs them where to fish and the catch is miraculously abundant. The beloved disciple John recognizes it is Jesus. Peter who is lightly clad jumps in and swims to the shore only t find, along with the others who arrive that Jesus has started a fire and is cooking fish and bread. You might say that at this moment Jesus becomes the patron saint of barbeques. He invites them to breakfast. This is the group which had abandoned him in Gethsemane. It is here that Jesus asks Peter, the triple denier, to make a triple profession of his faith. What a difficult moment for Peter who had publicly denied Jesus three times to have to publicly profess Jesus three times. Yet in a profoundly important way this is a most significant therapeutic moment for Peter. Should Jesus ask each one of us three times, “Do you love me?”
