Domenica 25A Del Tempo Ordinario
From Fr. Gael: The steward in today’s Gospel is a fine piece of work. Not only is he bad at his job of steward but when called to accountability and the loss of his job due to his behavior, he resorts to further deceit to guarantee his survival after leaving his job. He, in a fit of genius reduces the amounts of his boss’s debtors to ingratiate himself with them. That way he will have some good business contacts when he leaves the employ of his current boss. And just imagine, his boss actually praises his astuteness in this behavior.
Jesus in the parable then tells us that we are to use that kind of intelligence and astuteness in dealing with the world around us. We are either to do or to be outdone. Our dedication to God must give us the intelligence and wisdom to deal with what the world throws at us if we are guard the precious gift of God’s Kingdom. –Fr. Gael Sullivan, SDB
